Never share your main password. Here is how to grant limited user access on marketplaces and what to check before you do.
Why not share your password?
Sharing your owner login gives full control of your account, including payments and settings. It also breaks most marketplace terms. If something goes wrong, you cannot tell who did what.
Use user permissions instead
Most marketplaces let you add users with specific permissions. On Amazon, use User Permissions in Seller Central to invite a user and choose view or edit rights for each area. Give only what is needed for the agreed work.
Checklist before you give access
- Get a written scope that lists the tasks and the permissions needed
- Ask how the agency protects data and handles incidents
- Make sure every person uses their own login with two-step verification
- Review users on your account at least every three months
When the work ends
Remove the agency user immediately, and ask for written confirmation that any copies of your data have been deleted.
