How to write marketplace product listings that buyers trust

Simple, practical rules for titles, bullet points, images and attributes on Amazon, Flipkart and Meesho.

Start with the buyer

Buyers scan, they do not read. Lead with what the product is, who it is for and the one or two facts that matter most, such as size, material or quantity.

Titles

  • Follow the marketplace title format for your category
  • Include brand, product type, key feature, size or variant
  • Avoid all caps, symbols and promotional words like “best” or “sale”

Bullet points and descriptions

Use five short bullet points, each starting with the benefit. Back claims with facts. Never make medical, safety or performance claims you cannot prove.

Attributes and categories

Fill every relevant attribute. Marketplaces use attributes for filters and search, so missing attributes can hide your product. Choose the most specific category available.

Keep it clean

Review suppressed or incomplete listings every week and fix errors quickly. A clean catalogue is easier to manage and easier for buyers to trust.
